Research of Mr. Misbah Zainun (Indonesia, and PhD student at Wageningen University) on Competence and Knowledge is accepted for publication in Learning Environments Research. This is important news because a major criticism on competence-based education has been that it would neglect the role of knowledge. I am delighted to have received the 2018 Award for Excellence in the category Outstanding Reviewer of the Journal of Workplace Learning (www.emeraldgrouppublishing.com/authors/literati/awards.htm?year=2018). This is the second Award in this caterory I received, which I find very special. Thank you Editorial Team and Emerald for recognizing the many efforts of reviewers, which in most cases stays unnoticed.

Delighted to give a workshop on publishing in the field of vocational education research at a seminar on November 21^st at Oslo Metropolitan University, Department of Vocational Teacher Education.

Last Editorial for ‘The Journal of Agricultural Education and Extension. Competence for Rural Innovation & Transformation’ published by me. I am delighted that Dr. Kristin Davis will take  this role over from me. Together we will be editing the journal as colleague Editors. With the five Co-Editors (Alex Koutsouris, Rasheed Sulaiman, Laurens Klerkx, Kim Dooley and Rick Rudd) in place, I think the JAEE will increase it’s quality further. Full reference:

The manuscript on Researching VET in an International Perspective, which is an elaboration of a keynote address given at the Information event on the ‘Internationalization of Vocational Education and Training Research’ (IBBF), under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Bonn, Germany, January 30^th 2018, is accepted for publication in the inaugural issue of the Journal of Vocational and Continuing Education and Training.
