Beyond unreasonable doubt – learning for socio-ecological sustainability in the anthropocene

On December 17, 2015, Arjen Wals gave his second inaugural address on the occasion of his appointment as Personal Professor on Transformative Learning for Socio-Ecological Sustainability, entitled ‘Beyond unreasonable doubt – learning for socio-ecological sustainability in the anthropocene’, at Wageningen University. In a full Auditorium he unfolded his views on the importance of education and learning for establishing more sustainable practices to save the planet for future generations, and to prevent humanity for becoming extinct. Arjen Wals also holds the UNESCO Chair of Social Learning and Sustainable Development, is Guest Professor at the University of Gothenburg, and Adjunct Faculty Member of the Department of Natural Resources, Cornell University.
